you can tell
by the way the wind blows
how it curves and shudders
each mile traveled is additional uncertainty
you can tell
how the ground moves when I breathe
on edge, willing, and cautious
each beat is a white flag unveiled
you can tell
by the way humanity is so quick to part
when with any other they would stand firm
that I was not made for this world
I speak too directly
I love too deeply
I miss the things
the world certainly believes are irrelevant
and despise the things
they swear are the cure to all evil
maybe I’m the evil one
or just an alien
living in blackened skin
from a sun
brighter than his birth planet
and light years away
from everything
he thought he knew
