Becoming Whole Again

I can never become

whole again

only so much can be remade

the rest

lost to the faded essence of memory

where there is time, there is forgetting

and I love you too much to remember

or let each breath be a miserable reminder

of that which I used to be

without you

those steps are buried, forever and for good

I’ve made mistakes, learned the lessons

succumb to the high that is oxygen and health

every day within the freeness of earth

I am taught what I should

do and don’t, these are made complex

each morning brings a new word

afternoon, a burning desire

and night, the will to combine them in this

poetry

should I give you her name to search

or can you tell that I found someone new

by the way my words sing of hope

and promise, freshwater tears rejuvenate

amazon trees

I'm interested in hearing what you have to say
