The Pain Is Finally Free

Lights go off

And these words come out

It’s not your body, but your eyes

That I really care about

The threads between your days

And the sewing needle eyes

Always poking at me, wondering of my life

Making me question why

The picture you quilt

I portray my guilt

In broken lines, all the time

You can swim under the waters

To find the silt, the magic of my living

These words never have an ending

Though I can’t give you a beginning

I haven’t been around forever

But the ability to craft and magnify

You, the most beautiful I can identify

And if there came a day I put down my pen

Death better have taken me because I

Love writing for you

And about you

Because of you

All my pain is free
