Running Away

I am a runaway

From the darkness of ignorance

And the shielding eyes of fear

I’ve whittled away at my innocence

But redemption draws near

In these words I write, I give them life

Peace, resistance, and destiny

In the shutter-shots of autism’s eyes

I see the greater calling in me

And in you

I find a cunning strength

I thought I hated the company of others

But they don’t know about us

They don’t know the things we do

You can draw inside every line

But when the sun comes up

And burns the edges, they disappear

People live as if the outside really matters

Only the inside really matters

And I’ll gladly be an outsider

The world gets slower, stiffer, fatter

I’ll stand outside your inside

For peace

In this resistance

I find the destiny

I'm interested in hearing what you have to say
