#OctPoWriMo 2016 Day Five Prompt: Sharp

33

“My Heart”

Sharp was

your middle name

all of the veins in my core

your voice is a buzzing chainsaw

My deepest feelings did it slice

“Without You”

Sharp is

not a nice word

It makes me think of my past

and of what I thought I might do

if I ever, ever lost you

Pensee found in the Caulkins Handbook stresses exact syllable count and strong end words. This invented verse form was first introduced by American poet and educator, Alice Spokes. It can be found on line at Instant Poetry Forms for Kids

The Pensee is:

  • a pentastich, a poem in 5 lines.
  • syllabic, 2-4-7-8-8 syllables per line.
  • unrhymed.
  • titled
