By the kings decree
there was to be great misery
at the death of the young, the slaughter
of the beauty of the aunt, grandmother, and daughter
The word of the king
like the sword that brings
stinging death
and the gutted emotionless breath
of starving mothers
wombs torn asunder
Life no more
for even God cannot keep score
of the heads
by force that were led
to the closing moment
((Author’s Note: I took these pictures during my WAMTAC (Walters Art Museum Teen Art Council) meeting, which will take place every Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30pm. I wasn’t assigned to take pictures, but I felt inspired to write. What better to do after looking at art than creating art? You can visit Baltimore’s best art museum (in my opinion) Wednesday-Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m, and Thursdays 10 a.m.-9 p.m.)
I think you cptured the essence of the painting very well.

What a sad read. Certainly makes one think about the past and present.

Thanks for reading, and yes, it certainly does. I thought the picture was a little weird though, as the mothers actually seemed to be smiling.
